Hearing back

I love hearing back and even more so getting pictures of my pieces living in their new homes. The blue vase is at my dear friend's house.

And this picture was sent to me by someone whom I met at the Ope Studios in Menlo Park. She kept picking up the little cup and putting it back and shared with me that she loved it but there was way too much art in her apartment already. At the end she decided that the piece really wanted to go home with her. I was happy to receive the image the next day. My piece is in the middle.
In good company :)

Recent Open Studios

I haven't been very good about posting on my blog or Instagram. Due to the force of habit, FB continues to remain my main outlet for ceramic updates, images, etc. But... I absolutely have to post a few pictures from the recent Open Studios. As always (meaning the 3 years I have been doing it) it was a wonderfully gratifying experience. Seeing people connect to my work, having interesting conversations about their own experiences with pottery or ceramics, observing reactions to different pieces always creatively recharges and inspires me. This time I had a lot of pinched pieces and a few visitors commented on how good it felt to hold the pieces in their hands. Best compliment I could hope for and the best kind of connection: from my hands to theirs.

May 5-6 weekend took place in a beautiful setting in Menlo Park, CA. There were 12 of us all together, from all over the world. Tired, but happy, we took a goofy picture of all of us at the end.

And here are a few shots of my work (and me :)

The second Open Studios weekend took place in Los Gatos. The view from the top of the hill and the balcony where I was exhibiting was breathtaking, but I was grateful when people were not too distracted and looked at my work. Also, always happy to see friends, including those who make me pose for pictures
